A Few of My Favorite Things

Is it just me or does your "favorites" list in life change? Mine does. Little Z changes his favorite color almost weekly. Right now it's yellow. Last week it was gray. For the record, my favorite color is green and I've been steadily hanging onto that one for quite sometime now!

Sometimes I like to reflect on a few of those things in life that bring a smile to my face. So here goes.

Greek salads .... yum, yum, and yum

Salsa

Andrew Peterson's song, Dancing in the Minefields

when my husband rubs my head

watching for different birds outside

not having my house located next to a road

trusted friends and deep conversations

devising plans for homeschooling next year

Wednesday date night with my husband watching Survivor

Mocha lattes

having someone brush my hair

SPRING

allowing myself to dream and to pursue those dreams

writing.....

turning up some worship music and whipping out my paints

sitting on the porch at my in laws house, drinking coffee

treasure hunting with my kids

amazing conversations with my 8 year old

watching friendships grow for my boys

snuggling up with Z man ~ he's a super snuggler

I'm not just asking this for kicks... I like to know things. What are you favorite things these days?

  1. Would you believe I was making a list of "things that make me smile" in my offline journal yesterday?!

So...here are a few of mine: putting an idea into action; listening to my boys share about their day -feelings/thoughts/struggles/victories; taking 5-10 minutes to just sit and have a cup of coffee; having the time and ingregients to prepare a new meal; intentially living each moment of each day.

  2. I was just thinking about this the other day too! I did not actually right my list out, but here are a few of my favorite things: Chai tea (but make it decaf so that my heartbeat stays regular!), Columbian coffee with a little bit of hazelnut creamer, strawberries and oranges that are ripe (although not necessarily together), listening to my 5 year old tell me something that is really important to him, listening to my 3 year old sing to his "sweet mommy", snuggling with my boys, snuggling with my husband, holding my husband's hand and spending time with him, laughing so hard that I feel like it cleanses my insides, spending time with girlfriends and having the conversation go all over the place, cooking, learning something new on a book that I am reading, reading to my boys, and the list goes on!
